Yuumi can follow your dash without falling behind. She cannot occupy the other lane brush while she does it. Picking her partner means deciding how your ADC will reach the wave, avoid the enemy support, and keep dealing damage when two players share one position.
Sivir is our default recommendation with Yuumi for her wave-clear tools and a Spell Shield that can block the enemy’s opening ability. Zeri is our preference for a practiced player who can aim while kiting. Twitch offers a planned ambush, Ezreal gives you a way to collect awkward farm from range, and Xayah brings her own answer to enemies moving into her. These are the best ADCs for Yuumi on our mechanics-based shortlist, not placements taken from duo win rates.
Yuumi’s shortlist assumes the attached support and her farming ADC share a useful route through the fight. The 26.18 Zeri W nerf reduces poke damage; it does not remove the terrain movement that distinguishes their pairing. Riot's 26.18 notes.
Which benefits does your ADC get, and when?
Start with Zoomies, Yuumi’s E. While attached, it gives the host a shield, attack speed, and mana. Its movement-speed boost lasts only while the shield remains. E does not directly heal the ADC. Waiting until after the enemy’s damage lands misses the shield’s main job, and a quickly broken shield can also shorten the movement help you expected.
Her healing has other conditions. Feline Friendship periodically triggers when Yuumi hits an enemy champion with an attack or ability. It heals her and, while attached, her host; if she triggers it outside, she can bring that heal to an ally by attaching within four seconds. On her Best Friend, W also gives the host healing on hit and grants Yuumi additional heal and shield power. Once that bonus is active, safe attacks help the carry recover. An opponent who keeps you away from the wave also limits those chances to heal.
Best Friend is earned through the bond with each ally, not selected permanently by the first W. Yuumi builds Friendship while attached as that ally kills enemy minions and champions; the strongest bond supplies the Best Friend bonuses. This is why staying together for farm matters, and why jumping onto a fed teammate does not instantly transfer every benefit. Riot introduced this system in the 13.5 rework; the current kit still distinguishes the strongest bond. The old shared adaptive-force bonus is gone.
Prowling Projectile adds another payoff for the Best Friend. Hitting a champion with Q grants the host temporary bonus magic damage on hit, and that bonus scales with the host’s critical-strike chance. Its slow is also always enhanced on the Best Friend. Q still stops on the first enemy. Yuumi can steer an attached cast briefly before it accelerates straight ahead, so a minion wall or a late sidestep can spoil the opening.
At six, Final Chapter sends five waves that damage and slow enemies, heal allied champions, and turn excess healing into a shield. It heals her Best Friend for more. It does not root an enemy after several hits. Treat it as help sustaining an attack or retreat, not the hard crowd control that starts every fight.
That distinction survived this year’s changes. Patch 26.8 adjusted R healing and removed an extra-heal bug; 26.12 increased the AP ratios on her passive heal and E shield. Neither update restored the old E heal or R root.
Sivir when the next wave is the problem

The appeal is unglamorous: Sivir has tools to get a wave off her side of the map. Boomerang Blade travels through enemies, and Ricochet adds attack speed and bouncing attacks. Yuumi’s shield can cover some return damage while Sivir uses them. Once the wave is cleared, the duo can spend gold instead of staying because one player is missing a few minions.
That plan needs enough damage and mana to finish the job. A low-level Q and a handful of attacks do not automatically erase a large wave. If the enemy is holding it outside their turret, walking up to start Ricochet can expose Sivir before the bounces help. Ask for assistance breaking the hold rather than repeatedly spending health on half a push.
Spell Shield is the reason Sivir gets the default slot rather than just a wave-clear mention. It blocks the next incoming enemy ability and heals her when it succeeds. Save it for the spell that would let the opponents reach you. Spending it on easy poke may leave the decisive engage unanswered. It also stops one ability, not every part of the enemy’s rotation.
The pairing becomes more productive as Sivir acquires attack damage and crit: she can finish waves sooner, and Ricochet bounces can crit when the originating attack does. Her crit chance also increases the temporary on-hit damage Yuumi can grant with Q. Secure the recall that lets you buy those stats. Sitting on enough gold to finish an item while paying for another wave with health delays the point of picking Sivir.
On the Hunt gives the team movement speed and lets Sivir’s champion attacks shorten her basic cooldowns. Use that room to attack the nearest sensible target while Yuumi protects her. Running around the frontline to reach a distant carry throws away that position. If Sivir is already your pick and the support slot is still open, the Sivir support comparison explores other ways to play the lane.
Zeri when you can keep the damage moving

Zeri can carry Yuumi through turns and terrain crossings without leaving her support on the other side of a wall. In return, shields and movement assistance buy Zeri more opportunities to keep firing. The interaction depends on her current attack pattern, not her removed shield-stealing passive.
Burst Fire is treated as an attack, while Zeri’s ordinary right-click attack is treated as an ability. Her Q shots normally hit the first enemy in their path. If she is firing into the wave while the opposing ADC attacks her freely, the presence of Yuumi does not turn those shots into useful champion damage. Find a firing lane before spending both players’ resources on a trade.
Spark Surge makes this decision more interesting. E lets Zeri vault terrain and temporarily gives Q piercing shots. Using it can open a damage angle that did not exist a moment earlier. It can also spend the route both players needed to escape. Look at the far side of the wall before committing: crossing into an unseen opponent trades a bad position for a worse one.
At six, Lightning Crash needs to hit a champion to grant its combat buffs. Further champion hits extend the effect. Yuumi’s slow can help Zeri keep someone in reach, but pressing both ultimates while no enemy is available wastes the attempt. If the opponent retreats beyond safe pursuit, keep control of the area instead of chasing to preserve a buff.
Yuumi can steer Final Chapter when she starts it attached; using W during the channel locks its direction. A call before changing hosts helps her keep the waves aimed through the fight. Zeri should still dodge the threatening spell rather than stand still to preserve a convenient angle.
Choose this pair if hitting Q under pressure is already familiar. Learning Zeri while also managing the lane’s shared position is a lot to ask. When she is behind, the next damage purchase and an uncontested wave are often worth more than another wall entry into a fight she cannot finish. Zeri’s 26.18 W AD-scaling nerf also means less damage from a speculative laser before the entry. Judge the commitment by her available attacks and escape route, rather than assuming a wall hit has already won the trade.
Twitch when the first seconds of the fight are yours

Twitch changes where the fight starts. Ambush lets him approach in camouflage and grants attack speed when he leaves it. Spray and Pray adds range, attack damage, and piercing bolts. Yuumi can support the resulting attack window without walking into position separately. Twitch’s abilities
Choose the target and a place Twitch can fire from, then tell Yuumi when you intend to attack. Shielding during an uncontested approach can leave E unavailable for the response. Keep enough distance, too: Twitch’s camouflage has a proximity detection limit even before he attacks.
Spray and Pray rewards enemies standing along the same firing line, but the bolts lose damage against later targets. An angle beside your frontline can be better than the deepest possible flank: it may still hit several opponents while leaving Twitch close enough to allies who can stop a diver. The extra range does not supply a dash out of the fight.
Before that setup exists, the lane can be uncomfortable. A champion controlling the brush can make Twitch pay for every approach, and Yuumi cannot threaten from the opposite side while attached. Preserve health and the wave you can collect. Giving up a dangerous last hit is preferable to arriving at the level-six fight already unable to stay in attack range. If that wave lets Twitch complete a damage item, recall before arranging the ambush; skipping the purchase to roam past another wave can delay both his damage and the Friendship earned through farming together.
Twitch is the choice when the rest of the team can create or cover his opening. If everyone is waiting for him and Yuumi to walk into darkness and start the fight, draft something that provides initiation elsewhere. Their ambush is much less useful when the enemy knows exactly which entrance they must use.
Ezreal when you need access to farm

Ezreal is the compromise for a lane where walking into ordinary attack range is expensive. Mystic Shot can last-hit from farther away, while Arcane Shift gives him a blink to reposition. Yuumi travels with the attached host, so a sensible defensive E can relocate both players. That is a useful reason to pick him even if another carry would make more of repeated close-range attacks.
The compromise becomes a problem when "safe" means every Q goes into a minion and no enemy ever has to retreat. Mystic Shot stops at the first enemy hit. Two ranged spells do not form a poke lane if neither player has an open shot. Move sideways when it is safe to change the angle, and take normal attacks when an opponent has spent the spell that was keeping you away. Ezreal’s passive attack speed rewards landing spells; it is wasted if you never attack afterward.
His shopping decisions make the difference visible. Tear of the Goddess adds mana and helps with minion attacks, but it is not the same champion-damage purchase as a completed item. If you choose Manamune, it must reach its stacking requirement before it becomes Muramana. An Ezreal returning with Tear should not treat a landed Q as permission to fight an opponent who bought substantially more immediate damage.
Keep Arcane Shift for the threat you can identify. Blinking forward to detonate W may work against an isolated enemy with no response, but doing it into an unspent engage gives Yuumi little time to help. This pair is attractive when Ezreal can preserve income and gradually contest again. If he stays pinned under turret without room to clear, ranged last-hits alone have not solved the lane. For a more active support partner, compare the options in our Ezreal support guide.
Xayah when the enemy wants to come to you

Xayah offers a different kind of protection: she makes the ground behind a target matter. Her spells and follow-up attacks leave feathers, and Bladecaller recalls them toward her. Enough feathers crossing an enemy can root them. Yuumi’s slows may make staying in a bad feather position more costly, but they do not guarantee that Xayah’s return line connects.
Against an opponent walking into Xayah, place the feathers while taking attacks, then move so the return path crosses their approach. Pulling them back immediately for minor damage can leave you without the control needed a moment later. Yuumi can shield during this exchange, but Xayah still has to decide where the feathers will travel.
Featherstorm gives Xayah a period of untargetability and leaves another set of feathers. Use it to avoid the dangerous spell before it connects; it is not permission to wait until you are already unable to cast. After landing, there must still be somewhere for Xayah to stand. Dodging the first engage while landing surrounded does not finish the defensive job.
She earns a place when enemies want to fight within her working range. Against opponents content to outrange and chip her down, neither she nor Yuumi can demand that they enter the feather field. That is where Sivir’s wave-clear plan or Ezreal’s ranged access may be more useful than another promise of eventual scaling.
When Yuumi is the wrong answer
Look at the enemy’s first reliable engage, not just your imagined finished build. A shield absorbs damage; it does not automatically block a hook, stun, or knockup. Nautilus can root with an attack and threaten a knockup with Depth Charge. If your ADC is the only exposed target and has already spent the defensive button, Yuumi’s attachment does not remove that threat.
Detaching can add an attack or let Yuumi take a different position, but check W’s availability and the enemy’s control first. Immobilization on Yuumi puts W on a five-second lockout. While attached she is untargetable except to turrets; while exposed she can be caught before she reaches an ally. Agree before she steps off, and keep a reachable ally available instead of dashing away from the rescue she needs. Riot’s lockout introduction matches the current kit and client value.
The same problem appears around vision. If neither champion can safely enter the river, move with another teammate or concede the uncheckable area. Do not make Yuumi walk alone into the brush because her carry wants one more wave. Keeping her attached does not make that brush safe for the ADC to face-check instead.
Changing hosts can be correct when a teammate needs immediate help, but it has a cost. The ADC loses the attached E support, and the new host may not have the Best Friend bond that strengthens the rest of Yuumi’s kit. Discuss who will collect the next wave and who will receive protection in the coming fight. "Attach to whoever is fed" is not a complete plan.
If Yuumi is already locked in, check how you will collect the first difficult wave and which enemy spell your defensive button must answer. Pick from those answers. If the support choice is still open and your team needs someone to start fights or interrupt a diver, choosing that support may help more than changing ADCs.
