5 Best ADCs for Senna Support, From Ashe to Nilah

Ashe supplies control, Caitlyn stretches the lane, and Nilah changes the whole spacing plan. Five farming partners for Senna support, with the tradeoffs made explicit.

High Noon Senna wears a wide black hat beside a huge dark cannon and glowing orange metalwork.
    Riot Games

Senna can heal her ADC through a rough trade, then struggle to protect them from the next engage. Putting another long-range champion beside her works when both players can keep their distance. Once a diver reaches them, somebody needs an answer faster than Senna’s delayed root.

Ashe, Caitlyn, Jhin, Ezreal and Nilah are our best ADCs for Senna, for five different lane plans. Start with Ashe when the team needs a way to catch someone. Choose Caitlyn when both players can use range to control the wave. Jhin rewards coordinated follow-up, Ezreal brings his own reposition, and Nilah trades the double-ranged plan for shared sustain and a much closer fight.

Here, your ADC takes the minion gold and Senna plays support. If Senna is farming, you need to choose her support instead. Fasting Senna beside a farming tank is also a separate setup; this list is for players choosing a marksman.

These normal PC pairings keep Senna on support income and the ADC on minion gold. The choices favor distinct lane plans, from ranged control to close contact, rather than positions in a duo-win-rate table. Riot's 26.18 notes.

Three questions before you lock the second marksman

First, who stops an enemy who gets close? Senna’s Last Embrace does not root on impact. On a surviving target, its damage is followed by a one-second wait before the root spreads. If both bot-laners need that whole second to survive, landing W may still be too late. Her camouflage also has limits: nearby enemy champions reveal the wraiths, and a skillshot does not need to select a visible target to hit them.

Second, can you collect the wave without spending all your health? Senna’s ranged attacks, healing and Q slow help with exchanges. Crossing an enormous enemy wave to join her trade can still cost the ADC more health than she restores. An enemy support threatening a flank can make nominal attack range irrelevant. Both players need a route back after the shot.

Third, what is the rest of the team supplying? Senna and a marksman usually add more physical damage and another vulnerable body. If your solo lanes also want somebody else to enter river first, picking a second ranged attacker does not create that teammate. Think about access to fights as well as the damage available once they begin.

Farming ADCWhat they add beside SennaMain compromise
AsheRepeatable slows, scouting and an initiating ultimateNeither bot-laner has a dash
CaitlynLong attack range and traps for a controlled laneA careless push exposes both players
JhinA long-range root after Senna deals damageReloads interrupt sustained pressure
EzrealA blink and spell-based follow-upHis escape does not take Senna with him
NilahExtra value from allied healing and shieldingMuch shorter fighting range

Look at the missing job before choosing the most attractive combo. With a teammate already providing reliable engage, Caitlyn can concentrate on pressure and follow-up traps. Without that teammate, Ashe’s arrow may give the whole team more than a little extra lane reach. For the wider marksman pool, see our ADC guide.

Ashe gives Senna time to finish the trade

Ashe draws a glowing ice bow while her white hair streams across a snowy mountain backdrop.
    Riot Games

Ashe’s most useful contribution starts before either ultimate is available. Frost Shot slows enemies she hits. Senna can use that reduced movement to aim Q, walk into a safe attack or place W along a more predictable route. The lane gets a way to begin an exchange without requiring Senna to land her delayed control first. Ashe’s current abilities provide the underlying slow and scouting tools.

Suppose the opposing ADC steps up for a last hit. Ashe attacks while Senna is close enough to participate. Senna can follow with an attack and Q, or use Q first if she needs its reach. Her passive rewards hitting the same champion twice with attacks or abilities, allowing her to extract Mist. Once she has taken that trade, both players can move back rather than follow the slow into the opposing support.

There are two common ways to spoil this. Ashe can chase farther than Senna is willing to walk, turning the second hit into a dangerous catch-up job. Or Senna can aim W through a minion that intercepts it before it reaches the champion. A slowed target is easier to approach, but the route still contains minions and an enemy partner.

Hawkshot makes a ranged lane less dependent on walking into darkness. Send it through a useful jungle route before committing to a longer push, then interpret what it actually reveals. An empty camp is information about a place; it is not proof that the jungler cannot approach from another route. Use the scan with wards and visible enemy movements.

At six, Enchanted Crystal Arrow gives the team an opening Senna does not have to create herself. Senna can follow a hit with W or damage while Ashe moves into attack range. Closer arrows give less stun time than long-distance ones, so send W promptly when the short arrow hits. How tightly the control connects depends on cast timing, distance, spell ranks and the defender’s tenacity; a late follow-up leaves room to escape.

Ashe is the clearest starting point here when the composition needs control. She is less forgiving if you already struggle to keep track of the second enemy while attacking the first. Two champions with no dash can be separated by one approach from behind.

Caitlyn can win space, then waste it on one extra plate

    Riot Games

Caitlyn starts at 650 attack range and Senna at 600. That gives them room to contest short-ranged opponents together, provided both are close enough to threaten the same enemy. If Senna is several steps behind Caitlyn when the trade starts, the enemy can concentrate on Caitlyn before Senna gets a shot.

The lane’s best moments often happen when the opponent has to choose between a minion and a shot. Caitlyn can threaten a last hit with an attack while Senna covers the enemy support’s angle. Senna then has a clearer chance to collect a two-hit Mist trade. Keep the farming agreement intact: preparing a minion for Caitlyn is useful; repeatedly finishing it with Q because the beam also clips an enemy costs the intended farmer gold.

Piltover Peacemaker provides a tool for moving the wave, but it is not automatically correct to push every time Q is ready. If the opponents are walking into your side of the lane, let that happen when the safer position lets both champions keep attacking. When you do choose to push, finish the crash before leaving. A wave stranded just outside the enemy turret can force Caitlyn and Senna forward on their next visit.

The trap interaction rewards patience. Yordle Snap Trap roots the first champion who steps on it and gives Caitlyn an empowered Headshot opportunity. If Senna’s W is about to root someone, Caitlyn can prepare a trap at their expected stopping point. The marked enemy can still move before Last Embrace roots them. Throwing a trap at the champion’s original location the instant W hits can leave the trap behind. Plan around an active trap where the enemy is going, rather than treating W’s first hit as an instant trap catch. Caitlyn’s trap and Headshot descriptions also explain why this creates more than an ordinary attack window.

Reverse the order when a trap is already active. Let the enemy step into it, then use the existing root to line up Senna’s W. Do not spend every trap under a retreating target; a trap covering the narrow route toward your own lane can be more valuable than another speculative catch.

After a successful crash, the temptation is to keep hitting the turret. Check your health, mana and next wave before taking that extra plate attempt. Senna’s Q cannot rescue a ranged pressure lane that waits until both players are exhausted to recall. A timely shop preserves the advantage for the next exchange. One more turret attack may hand the enemy the long lane they needed.

Jhin’s W can start the chain, not merely finish it

    Riot Games

Jhin can root an enemy before Senna’s W has even touched them. Deadly Flourish roots a champion damaged by an allied champion within the previous four seconds. Senna damaging a champion with Q can supply that condition. So can one of her attacks. Jhin must then land W on that champion; another opponent can intercept it. Jhin’s current spell text spells out the ally-damage condition.

This lets the pair build a catch from a modest piece of poke. Senna angles Q through an available target and clips the enemy ADC. Jhin aims W along the retreat. If it roots, Senna can send Last Embrace toward the immobilized champion instead of asking her own delayed root to do all the opening work.

Watch the fourth shot before asking for that sequence. Jhin with a loaded fourth shot has an immediate attack to spend on the catch. Jhin who has just fired it may be reloading while Senna advances. His spells can still contribute, but the two players should not assume the same attack pressure in both situations. Senna’s own slow firing makes the empty-gun moment especially noticeable.

Plan around short exchanges: land the shot and collect the Mist, then let Jhin reload before trying again. Against a durable opponent who survives the opening, staying in attack range without bullets can surrender the trade that looked won a moment earlier.

Jhin can remain useful when the catch begins outside his ordinary attack range, but respect the gap between hitting W and arriving. Senna should not sprint into two opponents simply because a distant root connected. After six, Curtain Call may contribute from farther back. It also fixes Jhin in place while he channels, leaving Senna responsible for watching the approaching flank rather than firing every spell down the same line.

Pick Jhin when both players enjoy setting up one good target. A team that still needs someone to deal uninterrupted damage into the closest durable enemy may need a different marksman.

Ezreal solves his own positioning, not Senna’s

    Riot Games

Arcane Shift gives Ezreal his own way out when Senna cannot stop an approaching enemy. He can blink to a better position while she uses W to delay the pursuit. The pair still needs to account for Senna’s slower retreat before pushing far down the lane.

Picture Ezreal blinking backward as an enemy approaches from river. Senna is still where she was. If Ezreal has already spent the blink aggressively, both may now need her delayed W to cover the retreat. Before using E for damage, look at the route Senna would have to take out of the same position.

Mystic Shot works well as ranged follow-up on a slowed or rooted target, but it hits the first enemy in its path. Senna may clip a champion with her piercing beam while Ezreal’s Q hits the minion in front. That difference matters in a crowded lane: the two champions can see the same target and have very different shots available. Ezreal’s spell descriptions distinguish Mystic Shot’s first-target collision from his other tools.

An immobilized enemy is also an opportunity for ordinary attacks. Landing abilities builds Rising Spell Force, giving Ezreal attack speed. Standing far behind the wave and using only Q throws away part of what his kit contributes when it is safe to step closer. The goal is selective access to attacks, not the largest possible distance from every fight.

Ezreal’s E bolt prioritizes a target marked by his own Essence Flux. Senna’s Q does not apply that mark, and a Senna hit does not detonate Ezreal’s W for him. Keep the champions’ jobs separate: she provides health, a slow or a root; he must land and activate his own damage sequence.

Use this pair when the Ezreal player can manage those decisions independently. If both players treat range as a reason to concede every wave, the opposing support can leave lane first and make Senna’s scaling a problem elsewhere on the map.

Nilah asks Senna to play a different lane

Nilah swings a glowing blue water whip above a harbor, wearing a yellow jacket and silver armor.
    Riot Games

Nilah changes the spacing completely. Her base attack range is 225; hitting an enemy unit or structure with Q gives another 125 temporarily, bringing her attacks to 350 range. Senna cannot keep the same distant firing position she uses beside Caitlyn and expect every short-range commitment to stay covered.

The attraction is Joy Unending. Allied champions’ ability heals and shields are more effective on Nilah, and the ally providing one also receives the additional amount. Senna has a heal on Q and an ally shield on R, giving this pairing a concrete interaction beyond simply liking long games. The passive shares the bonus, not an unrestricted duplicate of every full heal. Nilah’s normal ability tooltip gives those conditions.

Work toward a trade that both players can reach. Senna can use Q to slow an opponent and restore Nilah’s health along a suitable line. Nilah chooses whether the opening is close enough to spend a dash. If she crosses beyond Senna’s useful position while the enemy support turns on Senna, the lane has split into two separate fights. Extra healing value cannot join them back together.

Jubilant Veil is another shared tool, with a positional requirement. Nilah can grant its benefits to an ally she touches while it is active. This includes dodging attacks and reducing magic damage taken; it is not general invulnerability or immunity to every damaging spell. Passing close to Senna on the way out can protect her against follow-up attacks. Diving farther away and expecting Senna to receive it automatically will not.

The farming arrangement also suits Nilah’s experience passive: her minion last hits give her and the nearest ally extra experience under Joy Unending’s rule. Preserve those last hits where practical. Do not trade half of Nilah’s health to insist on a particular minion when the opponents have a clear punish waiting.

After six, Nilah’s Apotheosis pulls nearby enemies at the end of its initial damage sequence and heals nearby allies from the damage dealt. Senna can contribute from a position where her own damage and protection still reach the play. That does not require her to stand inside the enemy team. Keep enough connection to help Nilah without copying the short-range carry’s destination.

This pairing is for players who accept a more demanding early lane in exchange for those shared effects. It is a poor recommendation for somebody who wants Senna’s presence to make close-range farming effortless.

Make one healing beam do the work you intended

Senna’s Q targets a unit, then continues through that target. Its cast range follows her attack range, while the beam extends beyond the unit she selects. The click chooses a direction; it is not a separate heal that automatically finds the injured ADC elsewhere in lane. Senna’s current Q record and tooltip distinguish the targeting and beam geometry.

A useful lane arrangement puts the injured ADC between Senna and the enemy she wants to pressure, without asking the ADC to walk into danger merely to complete the line. Caitlyn holding her firing position can give Senna that angle. Nilah returning from a short exchange may need Senna to move sideways first. If a safe combined line is unavailable, healing the ally can be the entire purpose of Q. The spell does not need to hit an enemy to justify saving your farmer.

Keep enough mana for that decision. Firing every Q through the wave for distant poke can leave the heal unavailable when the opposing support finally engages. Senna’s attacks refund part of Q’s cooldown, but only when she can safely make those attacks. Riot changed that refund from on-hit to on-attack in patch 26.13, so old claims about multiplying it with on-hit item effects need a fresh check.

When a large enemy wave reaches your turret, let the ADC collect the minions and use Senna’s health and control to protect that collection. Wait until there is room to move together again. Chasing one more Mist trade while the farmer is occupied leaves Senna fighting alone. Finish the wave, recover your position, then look for the next catch.
